Transport Accident Claims (TAC)

If you’ve been injured in a car, truck, motorcycle, bicycle, quad bike, bus, train, tram, or as a pedestrian you should get legal advice. The Transport Accident Commission (TAC) provides cover for medical treatment, loss of income and in the case of permanent injuries, lump sum compensation regardless of fault. Grainger Legal will give you free, no-obligation advice in relation to your rights and entitlements and if you instruct us to, we’ll make your claim for you.

> Did you know that the TAC is your insurance company?

It is never too soon to start your claim. In fact, time limits apply
and so legal advice should be sought as soon as possible after an accident.

Workers Compensation

If you’ve been injured at work you should get legal advice. Workers compensation insurance provides cover for medical treatment, loss of income and in the case of permanent injuries, lump sum compensation regardless of fault. Grainger Legal will give you free, no-obligation advice for injury, illness or disease suffered in the course of (or in connection with) your employment. We will advise you in relation to your rights and entitlements and if you instruct us to, we’ll make your claim for you.

Superannuation Disability Claims

If you’re unable to work because of an injury or illness you should get legal advice. Many superannuation funds offer disability and income protection insurance. If you cannot work in your usual occupation and/or your usual hours due to injury or illness, then you may be entitled to lump sum compensation, regardless of how your injury or illness occurred.

Many workers are unaware of their right to claim compensation because it is often hidden deep in the fine print of superannuation policies. Grainger Legal can help you search for any funds you have contributed to over the course of your working life and to check your entitlement under those policies. We will only charge you for our work in the event you receive a benefit. These benefits may be payable in addition to any TAC or WorkCover entitlement that you may have.

Victims of Crime Compensation

If you’ve been the victim of a violent crime, you should get legal advice. The Victorian Government funds a Victims of Crime scheme which offers assistance for expenses incurred, or reasonably likely to be incurred to victims of crime. The scheme is run by the Victims of Crime Assistance Tribunal (VOCAT).

Grainger Legal can assist you with a claim for medical expenses (including counselling), lost earnings and in some cases lump sum compensation. Grainger Legal will also advise you in relation to pursuing compensation from individuals under the Sentencing Act, where a perpetrator has been convicted.

Wills & Powers of Attorney

A Will is an important document, which reflects your wishes and distributes your assets in the event of your death. If you die without a Will, the law decides who gets your assets and an application will most likely need to be made to the Supreme Court for a grant of Letters of Administration.

Wills can often be challenged, so it is important that a Will is drafted properly by a qualified lawyer. Grainger Legal can assist you to draft or update your Will or provide you with advice in the event that you want to challenge someone else’s Will. We can also prepare Powers of Attorney for you.

We charge fixed fees to draft your Will and/or a Power of Attorney and you will be advised of these fees prior to us commencing work for you.
